PRIVACY POLICY

INTRODUCTION

This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) sets out the personal information practices for Clear Cause Cleaners Inc. (hereinafter "Clear Cause"), both for events and the website (the “Engagements”). These practices seek to balance an individual’s right to the privacy of his or her personal information and the need for Clear Cause to collect, use, disclose and otherwise manage the personal information provided and personal information submitted to the Engagements for various services offered by us. We may update this Policy from time to time and you are responsible for reviewing the most current version of this Policy. This Policy was last amended on the date shown at the end of the Policy. By continuing to use the Engagements, you accept any updates to this Policy.

WHAT IS PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personal information is any information that can be used to identify you as an individual, including your name, age, personal telephone number, address, credit card details, email address, and any other personally identifiable information that you choose to provide to the Engagements. Personal information does not include so-called “business card information” such as your business telephone number and address in your capacity as an employee of an organization.

YOUR CONSENT

If you use the Engagements, provide your personal information on or at the Engagements or apply for or request information about products or services offered by Clear Cause, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure and management of your personal information in accordance with this Policy.

HOW DOES CLEAR CAUSE COLLECT MY PERSONAL INFORMATION

Clear Cause collects personal information from you by asking you to provide personal information such as your name, address and email address when you register as a volunteer on the Clear Cause website, apply to receive e-updates or other Clear Cause products or services, along with attending any Clear Cause event. Certain other personal information may be collected on the Engagements without you actively providing the information by using various technologies, as described below:

SERVER LOGS

While you use the Engagements, certain information is collected without you actively providing it, including information about your IP address and type of operating system, the time you spent on the website and which pages you visited. This helps us improve our website. This data is not used to identify individuals. We track IP addresses for: (i) troubleshooting issues; (ii) voting events, confirm people are not voting for an individual more than once; and (iii) for all people who are filling out online forms, for the purpose of spam filtering.

COOKIES

Cookies, tokens of information given to your browser when you access a website, help us track usage of the Engagements and improve the Engagements for you. Cookies will also remember a user if they return to the cart after leaving the website. Cookies are also used by Google Analytics to track statistics about hits, browsers, traffic. If you prefer to not use cookies, you can set your browser to disable cookies.

INVESTMENTS THROUGH STRIPE

When you invest in our projects via the Engagements by Stripe, we do not have access to your credit card information save for the last 4 digits of your credit card number. This information is collected and stored by Stripe securely in accordance with their privacy policy. The name, address and telephone number from the billing information section is provided to us from Stripe. We use this information as per the "Use and Disclosure of Personal Information" section below and mostly to record investments. By providing information (excluding billing information) during the investment process, you are requesting that this information be advertised on our website under the Wall of Fame page to become visible to the public. Users who do not want the information to be posted should not provide it. In such cases, an entry is made on the Wall of Fame anonymously. 

USE AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personal information collected by Clear Cause will only be used or disclosed for purposes described in this Policy or for other purposes that we have informed you of at the time of collecting that information. Before your personal information will be used or disclosed for a new purpose, we will ask you for your consent, unless use or disclosure without your consent in the circumstances is otherwise permitted or required by law, regulation or court order. We may use or disclose your personal information to enforce or apply the Terms of Use of the Engagements, to the extent that your personal information is required in order to determine whether the Terms of Use have been violated.

We use and disclose your personal information to fulfill your requests for certain products or services or information about them, process investments, contact you in response to requests for information and to respond to voluntary comments. We may also use personal information to customize the Engagements to your preferences, to improve the content and services of our Engagements, and to research Engagement usage patterns.

We may disclose your personal information to related organizations who agree to follow this Policy, for the purpose of providing you with the products or services you have requested. We may also disclose personally identifiable information to third parties, but only to service providers we use to support our organization (e.g. technical support or third party services administering our credit card system) in which case we will require them to follow this Policy; and where permitted or required by law, court orders, or government regulations.

We will not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

REFUSAL OR WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT

If you provide us with your email address and do not opt-out of receiving communications, you may occasionally receive emails from Clear Cause. We may use your email address submitted through the Sites for the following purposes: (i) when you vote for a project, we can ensure 1 vote is counted per email address and (ii) we will send a thank you email when you invest, or register for an event or if you subscribe to our newsletter or weekly column. We hope you will find these emails interesting and informative. Of course, if you would rather not receive this information, you can click the unsubscribe link in the email sent to you, or, email us at contact@clearcause.ca requesting that we unsubscribe you. If you have purchased our services in the past, we will contact you via email to update you regarding any change to our services, but we will not contact you with our newsletter (unless you have expressly subscribed for the newsletter).

You may refuse to provide personal information to Clear Cause and may, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, withdraw consent at any time to our continued use and disclosure of personal information previously collected. Please note that refusing or withdrawing your consent in respect of our handling of certain personal information may result in us being unable to provide you with certain Clear Cause events, products and services. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to the Director of Public Relations at the address at the end of this Policy.

SECURITY

When you provide personal information through the Engagements, we protect your personal information by encrypting the personal information that is transmitted between you and the Sites.

We will employ security measures to protect personal information in our care appropriate to the level of sensitivity of the information. We will retain your personal information only for the time it is required for the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law.

ACCESSING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You can ask to view personal information about you held by Clear Cause by writing to us (contact information is provided at the end of this Policy). You can request that corrections be made where you can show that the personal information about you that we possess is incorrect or incomplete. Please note that under certain circumstances, you may not be permitted to view your records, such as where the disclosure of your records would cause security, legal or confidentiality concerns, and including where Clear Cause is prohibited by law to disclose that to you.
